Green Libraries

Bilsthorpe library and Bircotes library have designated green areas which provide an alternative sensory space to our visitors. 

Retford library has an outdoor deck and garden with tables and chairs.

Visitors are welcome to access these outdoor areas on a weather permitting basis.

In our outdoor space at Bilsthorpe library you'll find bug hotels, habitats, life-cycle planters and growing planters, as well as raised beds for growing activities. Our environmental classroom garden has space for green activities and children and family activities, such as story times.

Bircotes library has a large planter for growing activities with children and families. The library worked with artist Clare Taylor from Bus and Bird Arts and the wonderful pupils at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School to create an Environmental Clay Tile workshop, now on exhibition at Bircotes Library.
