Features: The Books That Shaped Our World

Novelist TM Logan and CEO of Writing East Midlands Henderson Mullin each tell us about a book which has shaped their world.

In March this year West Bridgford Library played host to a special Book Club Live event, a panel discussion about the BBC’s list of 100 Novels that Shaped our World. The list – which you can view on the BBC website - has perhaps inevitably caused some controversy, and we enjoyed a lively discussion about its sometimes surprising inclusions and often glaring exclusions. Needless to say, we could have carried on talking for hours!

Two of our panellists on the night, writer TM Logan and CEO of Writing East Midlands Henderson Mullin, have sent us their respective personal choices of a book that shaped their world, so click on the videos to hear two avid readers describe the powerful effect a book has had on their lives.

What book or books have shaped your world? Is there a novel which amazed or delighted you so much that it made you want to be or do something, changed your direction, soothed you or kicked you into action, or helped make up your mind? We’d love to hear about your significant book and how it shaped your life. Email us a short video or written piece and we’ll post a selection on our website: Reading@inspireculture.org.uk
