World Suicide Prevention Day 2024

Statistics show that in 2018, over 6,800 people died by suicide in the UK and Republic of Ireland. This September, we're supporting World Suicide Prevention Day to show that dying by suicide is preventable. Whether you're feeling low and looking for mental health support in the form of our Reading Well collection, or seeking advice for a loved one, your local library can provide you with resources and information to help.

If you require further assistance or support, reach out immediately by contacting the organisations below:

  •  Nottinghamshire Crisis Line (24/7) 0808 196 3779
  • Samaritans (24/7) 116 123

If you are at risk of immediate harm, please call 999 or visit A&E.
