Inspiring Better Health: Health Information Week events

Health Information Week is taking place from 4-10 July 2022!

We are joining in to inspire better health and promote easy access to high-quality health information which can have a huge impact on staying healthy and managing illness effectively, giving a better quality of life. 

We'll be offering plenty of actvities over the course of the week to help you look after yourself and your health. Find out more about what we've got planned below.

Arnold Library Monday 4 July, 10am-1pm Health Information Hub . Come along and meet representatives from local groups and find out about their services. Groups confirmed are Insight Healthcare (Mental Health Therapy), SSVSS (Sexual Violence Support Services), Inspire (Wellbeing Bag launch).
Wednesday 6 July, 10:30am-11:30am Falls Prevention Taster Session Strength and Balance Exercise Class with Active Health Coach, Sara Davis.
Thursday 7 July, 12pm-1pm Mindfulness Session Learn about how mindfulness works and try it out with Martha Highton from Insight IAPT. Places are limited so will be on a first come, first serve basis.
Beeston Library Monday 4 July, 2pm Places of Welcome - Mental Health Special All welcome! No one has to be alone, if you feel like a chat over a cuppa and a biscuit just pop down to our place of welcome and meet likeminded people for a friendly natter.
Monday 4 July, all day in Discovery Room Brain Training Arena Try our puzzle of the day and take part in some training to strengthen your brain.
Running from 3:30pm on Monday 4 July until Saturday 9 July Children's Challenge Trail Follow the challenges marked out around the children’s library and see if you can complete them all. Take part with your family or friends and see who gets to the end first.
Tuesday 5 July, 11am & 3:30pm Toddler Yoga Bring your little one to try out some yoga moves and have fun and relaxation at the same time. Suitable for parents with children aged 2-5. Booking required at library.
Tuesday 5 July, 1-3pm Chair Yoga Pop in and take time out doing yoga on a chair, yes you can do Yoga sitting down.
Tuesday 5 July, 10am-2pm ABL Smoothie Station Have a go on the smoothie bike, keep fit and make yourself a delicious smoothie at the same time. Also, chat to our health rep for some great tips on keeping healthy.
Tuesday 5 July, 1-3pm Well Café – Mind Nottinghamshire It's ok not to be ok. You don’t have to be in a good mood to come along to our café. But we hope you leave feeling better than when you arrived. Meet Mel our recovery coach and share your wellbeing tips interests and skills.
Tuesday 5 July, 10am Insight Healthcare Do you need to talk? Martha from Insight will be on hand to advise you on how to get talk therapies which can help with lots of common things like anxiety, low mood & insomnia.
Wednesday 6 July & Thursday 7 July, 9am Cloud Watching Do you know your stratus from your cumulus? Cloud watching is a calming 5 minutes out of your day, sit down, look up …..relax
Wednesday 6 July, 4:15-4:45pm Mini Mindful Moments You're never too young to look after your mental health. Take part in some mindful activities with your little ones and take some time out together. For children 4-8, accompanied by an adult.
Wednesday 6 July, 3:40-4pm & Saturday 9 July, 1-3pm Dance Anthems for Families and Toddlers (DAFT Dance) Boogie amongst the books, dance around the dictionaries, fandango through fiction…however you dance, however you move, join us for some free unlimited dance sessions in Beeston Library for Health Information Week.
Thursday 7 July, 11:30am-12:30pm Make a Mindful Mandala Spend time creating a beautiful but simple mandala. For adults only, booking required at library

Bingham Library Monday 4 July, 4pm Mindfulness Story and Craft Time This event is suitable for children 0-8years and their families. Please book via the library.
Tuesday 5 July, all day Wellbeing Bag Launch One of our colleagues from the Resources team will be visiting to share information on our new Well Being resource bags.
Tuesday 5 July, 11am-12pm Places of Welcome Mindfulness themed with colouring sheets on offer. Come and meet our wonderful volunteers for a friendly chat and enhance your wellbeing.
Wednesday 6 July, 10-10:30 & Friday 8 July 10-10:30 Rattle, Rhyme and Roll Wiggle and Jiggle sessions where we will be offering active rhymes and songs to engage with your little one and get you all moving!

Wednesday 6 July, 1:30-3pm Crafty Chat group Be mindful and enhance your wellbeing with our Crafty Chat group, come along to help them make ‘partner hearts’ for people in hospital missing loved ones at home.

Kimberley Library Wednesday 6 July, 10-11am Author Event: “A Lioness: My Story of Cancer, Courage, Love and Friendship” Local author Michelle Camm will give a talk and answer questions about her recently published memoir. Her aim is to raise awareness of the importance of health screening. The event is FREE but refreshments will be available for a small charge.
Saturday 9 July, 10.30am-11.30am Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes Free interactive story time about why it’s important to be active and eat well. Suitable for ages 5-11. Booking is essential - please visit Kimberley Library to book.

West Bridgford Library Tuesday 5 July, 10-10:30am & Friday 8 July, 10-10:30am & 11-11:30am Rattle, Rhyme and Roll Singing makes you and your little one happy! Join us at one of our Rattle, Rhyme & Roll sessions to share songs, rhymes and actions with your under 5’s – great for exercise, bonding with your little one and meeting new people and it can help to develop co-ordination and language skills. Places are limited and tickets are handed out first-come-first served, 15 minutes before the start of each session.
Wednesday 6 July, 10:30am-12:30pm Places of Welcome Drop in for a complimentary cuppa and a chat with friendly faces. Meet new people, find things out, share your skills or just have a drink and relax. This week we will also have a Move Well stand, where someone from our friendly Learning Team will be available to share information about Inspire’s Health and Wellbeing courses, including Mindful Walks, Chair Yoga, Healthy Eating courses and more.
