This is a breastfeeding friendly session
These sessions are specifically designed for the needs of new mothers of babies aged 0 to 9 months, addressing the post-partum experience, and all the challenges and joys it can bring. During the session we sing a variety of lullabies from around the globe, whilst enjoying how they open up a new world of soothing and story-telling to our babies. Singing to our babies has been a cross-cultural and generational tool for thousands of years, and is scientifically proven to encourage a serotonin (the happy hormone!) release in both the singer and the recipient, as well as to encourage communication, and later speech, in infants.
We also do some baby-massage and basic signing, as well as some play time rhymes and songs. The class is built to work for babies from 0-9 months, to remain as quiet and relaxing a space as possible (i.e.; before they can crawl/walk too far).
The class is also a breast-feeding safe space, and offers a chance to connect with other new mums in what can often be a very isolating and exhausting time.
Singing and music has been proven as a great tool to aid relaxation and to help soothe baby crying or anxiety associated with this phenomenon, which can be at times be very overwhelming. As having a baby is a huge transition in anyone’s life, we now invite any expectant mums in their third trimester to join us at our Lullaby Bank sessions.
Together we will learn soothing songs, relax, practice mindfulness and breathing, and you will meet other mums and make friends ahead of the arrival of your baby. These sessions are free, and offer a safe space to help build your confidence, with lots of ideas to help develop mum and baby bonding skills.
Do join our friendly and welcoming community. We all know the phrase ‘it takes a village’ and we are here for you as you take these next steps as a new parent.
Please contact us separately at nottsmusichub@inspireculture.org.uk leaving your name and preferred venue, so that the leader knows to expect you.
