Join Historian Richard Pullen and Filmmaker Andrew Blow to hear the fascinating story of how a small engineering company based in Lincoln, William Foster & Co, became the unlikely inventors and manufacturers of the first tanks during World War One. You will also discover more about the important role of the ‘munitionettes’ and local linkages with Newark.
Richard Pullen is Chairman of the Friends of the Lincoln Tank and author of “Landships of Lincoln.” His grandfather worked on the tanks at Fosters. Andrew Blow, from Blow by Blow Productions, is a Filmmaker specialising in historical topics. Between them they produced the “Birth of the Tanks DVD.”
The talk is presented in association with the White Hart Hotel of Lincoln, birthplace of the tank and sponsors of Tank Tour.
The talk will be accompanied by a display of memorabilia.
