Join us for this special event with the author who uncovered the classic Clough quote, “I wouldn’t say I was the best manager in the business, but I was in the top one.”
Join award-winning former radio and print journalist and now bestselling author Marcus Alton as he talks about legendary football manager Brian Clough. Marcus met Brian several times and his interviews produced classic quotes. Marcus has written five books about 'Old Big 'Ead'. He will be talking about his latest book Brian Clough The Lost Tapes, which lifts the lid on a treasure trove of Cloughie stories.
Marcus hosts the popular Green Jumper podcast, which was named as one of the best football podcasts in the world in the2025 Sports Podcast Awards. Marcus has been described as ‘the leading authority on Brian Clough’ while Four Four Two magazine hailed him as ‘Brian Clough’s No1 fan.’ Marcus was born in Nottingham and became the driving force behind the fundraising campaign for the city’s Brian Clough statue unveiled by Barbara Clough in 2008.
