Writing East Midland's Beyond the Spectrum workshops have been running for over three years now. They have brought together over 200 autistic adults and young people with autistic professional writers to create exciting new writing and build a community of autistic writers.
Researchers at Nottingham Trent University have carried out research into the benefits of participating in Beyond the Spectrum, and this event takes a creative and novel approach to presenting the themes of that research through new pieces of creative writing from project participants.
We'll also hear some of the best work from the three years of the project, and each member of the audience will receive a printed anthology of the work performed. The atmosphere will be neurodivergent-friendly, with plenty of space, a range of seating options, low lighting and a quiet area available to use at any time.
There will be refreshments served before the start of the performance.
