About this course

Lino Printing is an ideal process to for both beginners and experienced printmakers. It is a simple relief printing process that works through developing and using graphic contrast and mark making skills and is the perfect technique for creating good quality, hand-made prints.

During the course you will be introduced to the techniques needed to make both a monotone and colour jigsaw print exploring pattern, shape and mark making. You will create an initial design, cut your lino, make your ’jigsaw’ and then print it, using different colours or tones.

You will learn and explore the process through looking at and discussing other printmakers work and by demonstrations, personal experimentation and individual tuition on how to design, cut and print your image onto paper and fabric.

By the end of the course everyone will have produced professional printed images to sell or give as gifts.

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Be able to design, cut and print an effective monotone and colour jigsaw linoprint.
  • Be able to use simple reduction lino techniques in combination with the jigsaw process.
  • Discuss the range of different approaches and techniques used by practicing printmakers.
