About this course

This short 3-week online course is the second of three stages designed to build your existing skills in MS EXCEL.  If you have not attended the Basics course, you can still enroll, however it would be beneficial if you have existing knowledge of navigating around Excel to gain the full benefit of the course. 


These three sessions will help you understand more about the tools available in MS Excel.  The Intermediate and Advanced courses build on your skills and knowledge of Excel.  You can study all the stages or just one.  All courses are designed to improve your employability. 


Taking place online and in the evening- it can fit around your current work or family commitments. 


By the end of the course, you will: 

  • Understand how to use the Conditional formatting tools to help you to analyse your data 
  • Be able to understand and use formula such as IF and Vlookup 
  • Be able to understand the concept of filtering & sorting data using Slicers and Tables 
  • Be able to show data using some of the different graphs provided 
  • Know where to find the inbuilt templates and help provided by MS Excel 


Learners on this intermediate level course should already be familiar with using a laptop and have access Microsoft Excel on their device. 


As the course is online, Learners will need access the internet and connect to Teams via a link sent to them. 


Learners will also need an active email account to enable easy of communication between the course tutor and the learner.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING, and
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
