About this course

Are you a resident of Boughton or surrounding areas and would like to know how to safely use your smartphone for activities such as shopping, booking appointments and banking? Then this course is for you. Join us at the Boughton Community Hub, 34 Manvers View and if you complete the course, you will receive a £10 shopping voucher. 

What are the aims of the course?

DIGITAL SKILLS will enable learners to initiate and participate in digital and online activities safely in real-life contexts, such as online shopping, banking and booking appointments. 

What will be covered on the course? 

An introduction to online shopping and how that can help to calculate discounts and budget, becoming familiar with types of online and mobile banking to manage a personal budget, and to be able to book online appointments and train tickets, to plan journey times and money. 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 

• Gain confidence and fluency in their use of numeracy and digital knowledge and skills, and develop a positive attitude towards the use of digital skills 

• Learn how to browse and purchase things online from familiar websites such as Amazon or Asda.com and calculate discounts and total costs. 

• Gain confidence and an understanding of how to use internet banking and look at personal budgeting. 

• Learn how to use your phone to book GP appointments and buy online train tickets. 

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend. 

No prior knowledge or skills needed. Learners required to bring along their smartphone if they have one. 

This course is for people who don’t already have a level 2 qualification in maths (GCSE C/4 or above) or are not confident in using maths at this level.  

Booking your place and fee information

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING, AND
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).  As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
