About this course

The course offers a perfect environment to achieve your artistic potential. The course guides you through the process of painting with acrylics  to create a colourful, vibrant and unique composition. The tutor will help you offering instruction and demonstration on how to use colour, texture and perspective to achieve a painterly, Impressionistic style as well as how to paint the light and shadows that create depth and dimension in your acrylic painting.  


The painting course is suitable for Beginners. 


What will be covered on the course?  

  • Artist research 
  • How to sketch a composition 
  • Simplify and separate tonal values into areas of light and shadow,  
  • How to use contrast, warm and cool colours effectively  
  • How to mix and balance naturalistic greens creating a subtle acrylic palette and a realistic sense of sunlight hitting the leaves and petals. 
  • Painting techniques: dry brush, layering, flat brush, gradient, glazing, visual colour mixing 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 

  • Learners will know how to prepare the surface, to sketch, to draw and how to mix and apply the paint on the surface using different tools to create an impressionistic style of painting in acrylics. 

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course? 

  • None 

You will need:

  • 40 x 50 cm Stretched canvas/ Canvas board, acrylic paper/sketch pad, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Yellow, Lemon Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Umber, Titanium and Zinc White acrylic paint, white acrylic  gesso, palette, glycerin, spray bottle, a range of synthetic paint brushes, graphite pencils,  metal palette knife, silicone spatula, baby wipes, cotton rags, photo reference

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
