Certificate in Understanding Autism (Level 3)

Our Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism is an accredited qualification an will provide you with knowledge and understanding of autism, including: 

• How to adopt a positive approach to supporting individuals with autism
• Current legislative framework relating to individuals with autism and how different theories have developed over time
• How to support and manage transitions for individuals with autism
• The range of therapeutic interventions and support available for individuals with autism and co-occurring conditions 
• How to support communication and social interaction for individuals with autism
• How to develop an understanding of how individuals with autism may be vulnerable and the support worker’s role and responsibilities relating to safeguarding according to legislative requirements.

What will we cover

To be awarded the Certificate, you'll need to successfully complete 6  units: 

• Autism in context
• Positive behavioural support for individuals with autism
• Understand support and management of transitions for individuals with autism
• Therapeutic interventions and support available for individuals with autism and co-occurring conditions
• Communication and social interaction with individuals with autism
• Safeguarding and resilience in autism.

Who is the course for?

Our Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism is a qualification designed for adults (19+) who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of autism. 

Successful completion of this qualification will allow you to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of autism, which would support progression onto appropriate qualifications and into employment within the health and social care sector. 

There are some specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification: 

• You should be working at a level 2 standard of English 
• You may also find it helpful if you've already achieved a Level 2 qualification in a related subject.

• Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
• Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools
• Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training

Course cost

The cost of this course is FREE/£425.25.

The following criteria applies to our level 3 qualifications:

1. Courses are free if you are aged 19+ and;
2. You earn less than £20,319 per annum (individual, not household); OR
3. You do not already hold a level 3 qualification.

If you already have a Level 3 (full) qualification, but have an individual income of more than £20,319, you will be required to pay fees (for 50%) of the cost of the course.
