Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Level 2)

Our Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (hospitality services) at Newark Library will help you develop the knowledge, skills and understanding in areas such as maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment; working effectively as part of a hospitality team; maintaining food safety in a catering environment; and knowledge of the principles of producing basic dishes.

What will we cover?

This qualification is designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed for working within the hospitality industry. 


The course will:

  • Focus on the study of the hospitality and catering principles within the retail and commercial enterprise sector  
  • Provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills.

Who is the course for?

 This qualification is aimed at adults (19+). It is designed for those who are already working or wish to work in the hospitality sector.

How can I progress after completing the course?

With relevant experience and qualifications you may progress to a variety of roles in the hospitality industry such as: 

  • Waiter/Waitress  
  • Receptionist  
  • Bar Attendant  
  • Housekeeping 

You may wish to build on the knowledge gained from this qualification by progressing to a higher level, including the following qualifications with other providers such as: 

  • Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Reception and Front Office Services  
  • Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality
  • Level 3 Award/Certificate in Hospitality Business Management 
  • Level 3 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership 
  • Level 3 in Hospitality Leadership

The cost of this course is FREE/£236.00.

1)  Free - if you earn less than £17,374.50 or are on a means-tested benefit.
