About this course

This course will enable learners to identify influences on their health and well-being whilst learning how yoga can have a positive effect on the mind and body. 

This course is designed as an introduction to yoga for learners who would like explore yoga to support their health and wellbeing.

What will be covered on the course? The course will cover: 

  • The original Purpose of Yoga, 
  • its origins and modern-day perspective, 
  • Introduction to Pantanjali’s Yoga Sutras, 
  • Confidence building/open & closed postures, 
  • Yoga and the spine, 
  • Emotions, Stress and the Autonomic Nervous System. 

The course will include an introduction with context to the session, a main physical practice, relaxation, and a short reflection on the theme at the end of each session. 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?  

  • Learners will identify how modern-day life affects them and learn strategies to improve their health and well-being. 

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course? 

  • No previous knowledge required. 
  • This is a mat based session where learners will need to move from the floor to standing. 

Learners will need to wear comfortable clothing to the sessions and bring a blanket for the relaxation part of the session.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking.  If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
