About this course

The course guides you through creating an expressive winter scenery composition in acrylics. The course will help you to become more confident using acrylics, with tuition provided through a mixture of demonstrations and exercises according to your needs. Tuition is provided through a mixture of demonstrations and exercises according to your needs. The course is suitable for beginners. 

This course focuses on the urban landscape theme based on the constant construction and deconstruction of the elements.: 

• Select appropriate photo references 
• Analyse examples of winter paintings in the work of different artists 
• Use different tools to create mark-making 
• Colour mixing, saturated versus non saturated colours 
• Sketching  
• Painting technique 

You will need:

• Acrylic paper/sketch pad, A4 canvas, white gesso, a range of synthetic paint brushes, photo reference, metallic palette knife, acrylic paint (student grade) 
• Red (Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red,  
• Yellow (Lemon and Cadmiun Yellow),  
• Blue (Ultramarine, and Cerulean),  
• Magenta , Turquoise, Titanium white 

The art materials are to be discussed during the first session of the course when the tutor will cover the topic.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
