About this course

This course is an beginners guide to learn about how to pipe and flood royal icing.   


You will learn skills and techniques to pipe around a shape and flood the shape with royal icing.  


 By the end of the course, you will know: 

  • How to pipe around a shape. 
  • How to flood the shape with royal icing.  
  • How to create designs on the flooded cookie or biscuit.  
  • How to package the cookie or biscuit  

Some previous skills and knowledge required in terms of hygiene.  


Resources required:

  • Board 
  • Cookies or biscuits- You can make your own or bring in shop brough biscuits.  
  • Piping bags make from baking parchment.  
  • Royal Icing 
  • Flooding icing either in a bottle or a piping bag 
  • Scribe or cocktail stick.  
  • Paper towels  
  • Scissors 
  • Colours: of personal choice 
  • Apron  
  • Something to carry home in 
  • Note pad and pen.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).  As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
