Sugar Craft - Cosmos Flowers - Mansfield Central Library

About this course

This course is a beginner’s course designed to introduce learners to Cosmos sugarcraft flowers. You will produce a Cosmos flower to enhance any special occasion cake with step-by-step instructions.  

By the end of the course, you will be able to: 

• Produce the petals for the Cosmos flower adding texture and realism  
• Produce the centre for the Cosmos flower 
  
• Learn how to dust the flower to add dimension  
  

Some previous experience of sugar craft will be required to attend the course.  

Resources required:

• Florist sugar paste by squires- white.
• We will colour the white paste light pink or dusty pink- (Or colours of choice) and a small amount of yellow.  
• Board or veining board. 
• Cosmos petal flower cutter 
• Petal veiner or multi-purpose veiner 
• Corn flour dapper  
• Rolling pin  
• 24-gauge wire lengths of 4inch (9 pieces for each flower)  
• Foam mat- Foam cell pad.  
• Floral tape 
• Ball tool  
• Dresden tool  
• Tweezer 
• Scissors 
• Stamens small 
• Spoons for drying the petals - 8 petals per flower. 
• Small amount of caster sugar and granulated sugar  
• Variety of petal dust- pinks, purple, green and shades of yellow.  
• Wire cutter/ pilers 
• Edible glue  
• Cocktail stick.  
• 2 piping tips   
  
• Paint brushes. 
  
• Note pad and pen.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).  As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
