About this course

This course is for parents/carers and their children who are in the Early Years (aged 3-5 years). We’ll explore well-known stories such as: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Tiger Who Came to Tea and We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.  


This course sessions are mapped to the Early Learning Goals. 


Course Summary: 

  • How to take a story and use it for a wider learning experience.  
  • Simple to use ideas that can be done easily at home.  
  • How to incorporate Maths and English in fun and creative ways.  
  • Plenty of art ideas and the theory behind them.  
  • Build your confidence in supporting your child’s learning – and have fun together too! 

By the end of the course, you will: 

  • Have an insight into how to take a story as a basis for a wide learning experience.  
  • Be able to apply what you have learnt to other stories too. 

Resources required:

A blanket to sit on. 

Water and snack.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).  As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
