About this course

Spring celebrates hope and renewal. Through time and across the world, Spring has inspired poets to capture that spirit of the new. Over six sessions we will use some famous (and not so famous) examples of Spring poetry to get us writing poetry. This course aims to help you record what you notice and want to remember about this special time. The course is suitable for beginners, but those with some poetry experience are welcome also.

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Demonstrate poetry skills by writing two Spring haiku.
  • Demonstrate poetry skills by drafting a poem to share with the group.
  • Use a different Point of View to create an original poem.
  • Demonstrate poetry skills by using metaphor in a poem.
  • Describe features of four poetic forms in class quiz.
  • Complete the reflective journal and identify next steps in poetry, creative writing or other learning.

Resources required:

An interest in poetry, plus pen and notebook, preferably A4.
