This unit is designed for learners who wish to know how to use a spreadsheet at an advanced level.
** Please, note that this course is not for complete beginners. Learners are expected to have working knowledge of Excel/Spreadsheet software **
In this unit, the learner will understand how to use a spreadsheet to enter, edit and organise numerical and other data, how to use appropriate formulas and tools to summarise and display spreadsheet information, and know how to select and use appropriate tools and techniques to present spreadsheet information effectively.
The learner will:
1 Use a spreadsheet to enter, edit and organise numerical and other data:
1.1 Identify what numerical and other information is needed in the spreadsheet and how it should be structured
1.2 Enter and edit numerical and other data accurately
1.3 Combine and link data across worksheets
1.4 Store and retrieve spreadsheet files effectively, in line with local guidelines and conventions where available
2 Select and use appropriate formulas and data analysis tools to meet requirements:
2.1 Identify which tools and techniques to use to analyse and manipulate data to meet requirements
2.2 Select and use a range of appropriate functions and formulas to meet calculation requirements
2.3 Use a range of tools and techniques to analyse and manipulate data to meet requirements
3 Select and use appropriate tools and techniques to present and format spreadsheet information:
3.1 Plan how to present and format spreadsheet information effectively to meet needs
3.2 Select and use appropriate tools and techniques to format spreadsheet cells, rows, columns and worksheets
3.3 Select and format an appropriate chart or graph type to display selected information
3.4 Select and use appropriate page layout to present and print spreadsheet information
3.5 Check information meets needs, using spreadsheet tools and making corrections as necessary
3.6 Describe how to find errors in spreadsheet formulas
3.7 Respond appropriately to any problems with spreadsheets

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
1) FREE - if you earn less than £25,000 gross salary or are on a means-tested benefit.
2) PAYMENT HELP AVAILABLE - if you earn more than £25,000 (annual gross salary) but are on a low-income, we might be able to help pay part or all of your course fees. Email: learning@inspireculture.org.uk for an application form or if you have any questions.
3) CO-FUNDED - if you are on a higher-income, the government will pay approximately half of your course fees.
