Have you always wanted to try making a sculpture but don’t know where to start? Sculpture for beginners is a course that will introduce you to confidently creating small scale sculptures. You will be introduced to a variety of materials that sculptors use to create their work. Using air dry clay you will then create your own small scale sculpture(s) based on the work by famous sculptors Barbara Hepworth (1903 – 1975) and Henry Moore (1898 – 1986).
Over the length of the course, you will learn about the sculptures that Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore created and the variety of materials and tools they used. You will also learn how to successfully design and develop ideas to make your own small scale sculptures using air dry clay and the appropriate tools.

A basic sketchbook/notepad or paper to draw onto, a pen, pencil, rubber, sharpener, clay tools (Amazon sell packs of tools from as little as £5.99) 2 packs of air dry clay (any colour is fine 1000g) or you may want to bring more for a bigger sculpture!

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required). As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
