This course aims to refresh the learners’ maths skills for supporting their everyday life. It helps them establish confidence in converting fractions to decimals and doing rounding and estimation. It is expected that after making conversion, it will be easier for rounding and estimation for some cases. Hence, this makes calculations more manageable finally.
What will be covered on the course?
• Introduce the meaning of fractions and decimals
• Understand and try to use the methods of converting fractions to decimals
• Know the possible ways of using fractions and decimals in our daily life.
• Identify why and how rounding and estimation are useful to us
• Practise rounding and estimating numbers with great tips
• Look into the real-world maths related to rounding and estimation
Upon the completion of the course, the learners are able to:
Session One:
1. Recognise different parts of a fraction and a decimal number
2. Manage to convert factions to decimals effectively and confidently
3. Notify and try to apply conversion skills in real-life situations
Session Two:
1. Analyse the importance and the use of rounding and estimation
2. Round and estimate numbers with basic skills
3. Apply rounding and estimation in everyday life and carry out easy calculations
