About this course

This 1 day course will support you to enjoy learning about and using your camera. It is designed to be a fun light-hearted day whilst creating some great photographs whilst looking at photography as an aid to well-being. The course will include some short walks around the local area to take photographs. This course assumes learners have no previous experience of photography.  

The1 day course will cover; 

  • Finding your mobile camera apps and finding out how to use some of them. 
  • A basic introduction to aperture, shutter speed and ISO to improve your photography skills. 
  • Looking at the health benefits of walking and how photography can support well-being. 
  • Exploring; exploring shadows, reflections and movement photography. 
  • How to use and upload images to Padlet.  

Learners will develop an awareness of the importance of looking after their own well-being and how taking pictures can improve health. Learners will be able to use their basic camera settings and understand when to use them.

Resources required by attendees:

A smartphone with a camera or a camera. A tripod if they have one or want to bring it.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
