About this course

Discover Nottinghamshire’s women writers from the 17th Century to the present day. This journey through local history will expand your knowledge and introduce you to many important writers associated with the county.  

Learners will hear about women writers from centuries ago to the contemporary. They will see how these writers have made an important impact on the county’s literary heritage and history. Learners will also engage in discussion as they consider the merits of each writer and compile their own top ten list from the many significant authors and poets featured on this course.


By the end of the course, you will be able to:-  

  • List and recognise some of Nottinghamshire’s finest women writers, from centuries ago to the contemporary. 
  • Match different novels with their authors. 
  • Know more about how women have made an important impact on the county’s literary heritage. 
  • Experience reading some prose written by an author featured on this course. 
  • Discuss different women writers and their work.
