The course will look at Joyce’s major works through Joyce’s concept of the epiphany and in the context of modernism. By the end of the course, you will have been introduced to Joyce’s major prose works (Dubliners, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Ulysses, Finnegans Wake) through the study and discussion of extracts and will be in a position to undertake your own further independent reading of these works.
Extracts from Joyce’s works will be provided, although a copy of Dubliners would be useful and students will hopefully wish to acquire copies of Joyce’s other works for further independent reading.
