About this course

Many internet safety course focus on child protection, but this course is design for older adults who are concerned with keeping themselves safe from criminals on the Internet.

What will be covered on the course?

How to spot phishing emails and how to report them
How to spot internet scams
Protect themselves from online fraud and identity theft
Understand the use of cookies online
Know the dangers of different kinds of malware
Understand the risks associated with open wifi networks
Staying safe on social media
Be able to choose strong but memorable passwords

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

Learners will better understand the risks online, so they make balanced and informed choices

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

Learners should have some experience of using a computer, smartphone or tablet

What resources/course materials do learners need to bring for the course?

None
Learnings are welcome to bring their own devices for a security checkup

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
