About this course

This course is designed for learners of all levels who wish to explore the timeless and versatile medium of ink. Whether you're a beginner eager to learn the basics or an experienced artist looking to refine your skills, this course offers a comprehensive and hands-on approach to mastering ink drawing. 


Learn the essential techniques, including line work, shading, and texturing. Guided by an experienced tutor, you will learn drawing techniques as well as watercolour painting techniques. Discover the variety of pens, brushes, and papers best suited for ink drawing. Experiment with different styles and approaches, from traditional to contemporary.  Work on individual and group projects to apply what you've learned in a supportive environment.

Resources required:

  • Acrylic / Watercolor paper/sketch pad
  • White gesso
  • A range of synthetic paint brushes
  • Photo reference
  • Pencils
  • Pens
  • India ink
  • Watercolour paint or acrylic ink 
  • Red (Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red,  
  • Yellow (Lemon and Cadmiun Yellow),  
  • Blue (Ultramarine, and Cerulean),  
  • Magenta , Turquoise, Titanium white 

The art materials are to be discussed during the first session of the course when the tutor will cover the topic.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).  As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
