The Introduction to Diet and Nutrition course simplifies the fundamentals of health and nutrition in what often feels like a confusing and contradictory world. It was designed to help you develop a holistic relationship between food and health, shifting from a mindset of dieting and rigid regimes. Explore the aspects of a healthy diet and fluid intake and how they impact upon our health. We will also look at the long-term and short-term impact of eating disorders.
Throughout the course, we will look at:
The makings of a healthy diet:
- What are the principal constituents of food?
- Which components of your diet can promote wellbeing and reduce the risk of diseases?
Why do we eat what we eat?
- What are the drivers that influence our food choices?
- How do we make sense of available nutrition information?
- What are the different types of eating disorders?
Nutrition fads, myths and the plain truth:
- Is there such a thing as a ‘miracle’ diet?
- Do superfoods exist, or are our genes to blame for our current nutritional habits?
As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course.
