Discover DH Lawrence’s time in Nottinghamshire, from his childhood in Eastwood and his education in Nottingham, to his many other links to various places within the county.
This single session will take learners on a virtual tour of many of the locations in Nottinghamshire associated with the great writer DH Lawrence. Learners will gain a knowledge of DH Lawrence’s life in Nottinghamshire and how the country of his heart inspired his writing.
The course will feature illustrations, presentations, discussion and video.
By the end of the course, you will:
• Be able to name different places associated with DH Lawrence.
• Be able to discuss the writer’s early life in Eastwood and how it might have influenced him.
• Be able to describe how the Chambers’ family affected Lawrence’s writing.
• Be able to express an opinion on Lawrence’s writing (about Notts).
• Be able to compare Lawrence’s relationships between Jessie Chambers and Frieda Weekley/Lawrence.
• Be able to identify different locations and their association with Lawrence (from images alone).
