About this course

Learn the traditional art of Parisian decoupage using napkins. In this course, you will learn how to decorate objects like memory jars, coasters, jewellery boxes using the decoupage technique. All these object are great gift ideas. Découpage means "to cut out" in French and learning decoupage techniques will enable you embellish and decorate just about anything using paper or napkins and then coating the layers with varnish or paint. Our Decoupage course is fun and social, and generally perfect for beginners.  


The traditional art of Decoupage goes way beyond simply cutting and pasting paper onto a surface. We will learn how to create decoupage backgrounds, flawless blending, all to create an excellent decoupage project.  

  • Analysing examples of air-dry clay modelling in the work of different artists  
  • Understand the technique 
  • Research different example using the decoupage technique 
  • Prepare the surface to receive the decoration  
  • Decorate your objects using paper/ napkins  
  • Use paint to influence the design 
  • Varnishing

Resources required:

  • Blank objects (a small wooden  box, a frame, a jar/coasters) 
  • PVA glue 
  • Baby wipes 
  • Cotton rags 
  • Craft knife, white gesso, acrylic paint (primary colours and white), synthetic paint brushes 
  • Cutting knife / scissors 

The art materials are to be discussed during the first session of the course when the tutor will cover the topic.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
