About this course

This beginner’s course will introduce you to the art of crochet and how to use simple stitches to complete various projects.  We will look at how to hold a crochet hook and the yarn so that your work can easily flow, you will also learn the basic stitches, including: a single stitch, double stitch, treble stitch and a slip stitch. 


By the end of the course, you will show secure knowledge of how to perform holding a hook and yarn and how to do a variety of crochet stitches.  This knowledge will be applied to simple projects such as making a purse or a bag.  You will also build up an understanding of the history of crochet, and the differences between English and American terminology.  We will also look at conversions for different crochet hooks. 


Resources required by attendees:

A drink – water or juice, notebook and pen, a hook size 4/4.5/or 5 and yarn/wool

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
