About this course

We understand the world using our senses: sounds, sights, smells, tastes and touch. Being able to capture our sense-based impressions and use them in creative writing is a powerful way to make your writing connect with your reader.

In this 6-session course we will work focusing on what our senses tell us, and how we can use that in whatever creative writing you enjoy: prose, poetry or creative non-fiction. Everyone is welcome: those who have done some writing already or want to give creative writing a try for the first time.

Each week, we will use one of our senses as the basis for writing exercises. We learn more about how each of our senses operates, also which senses we rely on most as individuals. We will work with the link between our senses and our strongest memories, as well as flexing our creative powers to conjure up sense-rich descriptions of locations and situations.

Resources required:

Pen and notepad preferably A4
