About this course

Humans have been eating beans for thousands of years, with good reason. They are packed full of fibre, protein, and lots of other nutrients. On top of that they’re cheap and, once you know what you are doing, easy to make into tasty dishes.

If you’d like to get more beans in your diet, but are not sure how, this is the course for you.

Each week we’ll spotlight a different bean or pulse and help you to prepare them in different, delicious ways. From sauces to salads, chilli to crunchy snacks you’ll enjoy filling your tummy with gut friendly beans that not only taste delicious but are good for you too.

All of the recipes cooked on this course will be plant based however we’ll also be talking about how you can incorporate beans into meat based meals too.

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

Learners will be able to:

  • Recognise different kinds of beans and pulses.
  • Know how to cook and store dried beans.
  • Utilize both dried and tinned beans and pulses, understanding the pros and cons of each.
  • Prepare beans and pulses in a variety of dishes, including mains meals, sides and snacks.
  • Understand when and what substitutions can be made when adjusting recipes.
