About this course

Would you like to impress your friends and family this Christmas with some handmade Christmas cards, gift boxes and decorations?

Would you like to improve your maths skills through exploring different crafts?

During this course you will measure in different ways and convert between different units of measurement such as millimetres and centimetres. You will develop your understanding of 2d and 3d shapes including how to draw and make them. This might sound complicated but most of the time you’ll be so busy making something that you won’t even notice you are doing maths!

Upon the completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • measure accurately using centimetres and millimetres
  • name 2d and 3d shapes and explain some of their properties
  • spot lines of symmetry and different types of angles
  • create nets of simple 3d shapes
  • Use this knowledge to create a range of different Christmas craft projects.

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

None! Activities will be set at a level to suit your learning ability.

Will the learner receive anything for free for attending?

The items that they have created on the course.

This course is for people who don’t already have a level 2 qualification in maths, for example GCSE C/4 or above, or are not confident in using maths at this level.
