Following on from our course Bookkeeping for Beginners this next steps course offers a further
selection of basic bookkeeping topics at beginner level, with aims to:
Information about bookkeeping practices will be shared through explanation, demonstration and group discussions.
Learners will receive a variety of documentation to process so they will be able to learn, develop and practice
basic bookkeeping skills required for employment.
Course topics include maintaining a cash book using double entry bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, posting from source documents to balance off ledger accounts (sales, purchases and general ledger) and extracting a trial balance, preparing a balance sheet.
At the end of this course learners will be able to:
Learners will need access to a basic calculator and an email address. Although handouts and financial documentation will be provided, a pen and paper or other suitable device to make notes will be useful.
One hour of self-study time will be beneficial to the learner in addition to weekly attendance to the course.
