This course will demonstrate how people consciously and unconsciously signal their attitudes, desires and feelings through their body language.
Underpinned by scientific studies, this interesting and entertaining online course will teach you how to ‘read people’ and show you how to encode your own body language to your advantage
The course will look at the influence body language has on perception and communication. Covering first impressions, gestures, micro expressions, gravity-defying behaviour, intention signals, mirroring and matching, barriers, pacifiers and adaptors, the course will show how people leak their true feelings.
The course will feature illustrations, demonstrations, discussion and video analysis.
No previous knowledge is required. Just an interest in human behaviour.
By the end of the course, you will:
Learners will:
• Be able to identify good and bad first impressions and know why…
• Be able to distinguish between supposed universal facial expressions and non-universal ones.
• Be able to describe how context, congruence, culture, changes and clusters can be used to read people.
• Be able to interpret intention signals.
• Be able to give examples of gravity-defying (and affected) behaviours and state their possible meaning.
• Be able to identify examples of proxemics and haptics being applied.
Myths will have been debunked as learners come to understand the difficulties of reading body language whilst understanding how to spot signs of comfort and discomfort.
Suggested Reading for the course:
‘What Every Body is Saying’ by Joe Navarro
‘Peoplewatching’ by Desmond Morris
