Learn the basics of bead weaving to create jewellery using a needle and thread to weave glass beads together.
Each week you will learn a new bead weaving stitch to create a piece of jewellery. In week one you will learn how to make a right-angle weave bracelet, in week two a beaded bead using peyote stitch and in week three you will create a pendant or pair of earrings using brick stitch. Please note that the beads used are quite small, so make sure to bring your glasses if needed.
To participate in this course, you will require some basic jewellery making skills (being able to add on clasps, ends and earwires).
Resources required:
-Size 8 seed beads in a range of colours. Seed beads are small glass beads that come in a range of sizes – we will be using size 8 (sometimes styled 8/0) during this course. Please note that size 8 is not the same as 8mm.
-Beading needles in size 10 or 12
-Beading thread (Nymo or S-Lon size D) in a colour, or colours, that blend with your beads.
-Small scissors
-Beading mat or tray
-Basic jewellery making findings including earwires, jump rings and clasps
-Jewellery chainnose pliers
