Join us in our brand-new professional kitchens at Inspire Learning Centre, High Pavement, Sutton-in-Ashfield, for a one-off course.  Create a selection of delicious hand-made biscuits.    

Learn how to make daffodil biscuits and shortbread. 

This course is an beginners guide to learn about biscuits made with fresh ingredients.  

You will learn skills and techniques to bake from scratch including how to make a spring daffodil biscuit and shortbread.

Learn new culinary skills to enjoy with friends and family.

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?  

• How to make a daffodil biscuit.  

• How to make shortbread.  

• How to colour and flavour biscuits.  

 Learners will have produced a selection of teatime biscuit treats to share with their family or friends.  

Ingredients Daffodil biscuit : 

  • 225g / 8oz unsalted butter, room temperature 
  • 150g/ 5 ½ oz icing sugar, sifted. 
  • 1 free range egg   
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste 
  • 350g /12oz plain flour, plus extra for rolling. 
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder 
  • Pinch of salt 
  • To decorate: 500g/ 1ib 2 oz royal icing sugar 
  • Yellow and orange food colouring paste or gels.  
  • Additional flavours and colours of choice.  

Equipment: 

  • Star shaped cutter 
  • Piping bag and small nozzle 
  • Apron Container to carry biscuits home in. 

Ingredients shortbread:  

  • 200g /7oz unsalted butter room temperature cut into cubes. 
  • 100g 3 ½ oz sugar plus extra for sprinkling 
  • 300g/10 ½ oz plain flour, sifted plus extra for dusting.  

Equipment:  

  • Note pad and pen.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
