Trees are amazing. They help us with all sorts of things, from helping to clean our air, to providing structure for our houses, cathedrals and churches. We rely on trees throughout many aspects of our lives, including helping us to improve our health and well-being. We will explore a wide range of topics associated with trees. How much do you know about these wild plants?
Journey into the biology of our trees. Learn about the structure and function of how trees and shrubs work and their importance in the landscape.
Take a look at the many uses and services that they provide, both to humans and other plants and animals.
Learn to identify some of our common trees and shrubs, that you will encounter in the local area. Familiarise yourself with the various identification guides and the knowledge, that helps us to determine species.
Look at the importance of the oaks, that make the ancient Royal hunting ground, of Sherwood Forest, so Internationally important.
Learn how to plant and how to fell them safely.
We will explore the diversity of tree species and hopefully we will gain more respect and understanding, for these magnificent living entities.
By the end of the course you will:

• Be able to identify 3 species of tree and/or shrub,
