Advanced Music Theory - Online Course - Adult Learning 16:00-17:00

About this course

This course explains advanced elements of music theory using Western music notation. You will complete weekly exercises, culminating in the completion of ABRSM Theory Practice papers, which are marked to show your progress. 

By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge to complete an ABRSM Music Theory examination at grade 5 or 6.  As this is an advanced course, it is recommended that you have previously attended one of Inspire’s Music Theory for Beginners or Music Theory Next Steps course, or be confidently working towards grade 5 level in music theory. 

Resources required:

• Manuscript paper, a pencil and a rubber 
• Associated Boards of the Royal College of Music (ABRSM) Grades 5 &/or 6 Theory Practice Papers 
• Ability to send pictures (usually via your phone) to an email address 
• As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).  As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
