Learn more about our new programme providing financial support and inspiring activities for musical pupils.
Here at IM Talent, we recognise that musical talent is everywhere, but opportunity isn't, so we are looking to close the gap; to identify those students in need, and to play our part in helping them experience the joy and enrichment that music can bring to their lives.
We offer FREE weekly group music lessons during term time. Each young person receives up to 35 small group lessons per year and the free loan of an instrument.
Financial support with access to other resources and local opportunities that might be required, plus additional regular support with the IM Talent Co-ordinator and termly newsletters.
Eligibility - If you are a school or academy leader in a Nottinghamshire school with students showing musical potential who are also eligible for our remission* scheme, we'd love to hear from you.
The Remission scheme is available for families in receipt of certain benefits (see criteria below). This will cover the cost of a shared lesson and the loan of 1 instrument.
- Child is economically eligible for Free School Meals (not Universal Free School Meals)
- Parent / Carer in receipt of Working Tax Credit - NHS Exemption
- Parent / Carer is in receipt of Universal Credit, with a monthly take-home pay lower than £935
- Pupil is a Looked After Child

Free Musical Meet-Ups, where we have the opportunity to watch a professional concert, or take part in a workshop with professional musicians and perform on a professional stage to an invited audience.
Our programme initially began in a partnership with Young Sounds UK, formally Awards for Young Musicians and Nottinghamshire Music Hub to identify and support young people throughout the county who might be facing barriers to music making - be it financial or for any other reason. Titled 'Furthering Talent', our programme ran from 2017 until April 2023, and during that time we supported over 50 students in their musical learning.
The legacy of this partnership is now being continued and funded through Nottinghamshire Music Hub on a local level, through the IM Talent programme, with additional bursary funding through other organisations, such as the Trent Valley Arts Society.
