Free Virtual Author Talks for Schools

As part of the InspiREAD Book Award, we are delighted to be inviting your primary school to join us for 9 FREE virtual events with shortlisted authors and illustrators – hooray! 

These virtual author talks will give pupils a fantastic opportunity to; engage with reading, meet the authors and ask their own questions!

 The events are taking place on various days, w/c 17th and 24th June 2024 at either 10am or 2pm. Each talk will last around 30-40 minutes. 

Not participating in InspiREAD Book Award? Schools are still welcome to attend these wonderful events! 

Schools need to register in advance to take part. 

When registering for these events, please ensure: 

• There will be a member of staff present with pupils during each event; 
•  Staff registering for the events must use their school email address (personal email addresses are not allowed).

Alice Hemming and Nicola Slater - Tuesday 18th June 2024, 2pm

About ‘That’s My Flower’: A laugh-out-loud book about the changing seasons and brilliantly explores feelings, moods and times where we feel out of control.

Alastair Chisholm and Alex Willmore - Monday 24th June 2024, 2pm

About ‘One Hungry Dragon’: A hilarious counting tale featuring lots of favourite fairy tale characters, including magical mermaids, funny frogs . . . and one very big BURP!

Lu Fraser and Sarah Warburton - Thursday 27th June 2024, 10am

About ‘Mavis the Bravest’: An adorably warm-hearted story full of humour, reassurance – and two exceedingly courageous chickens!

Carrie Sellon - Monday 17th June 2024, 2pm

About ‘Pizza Pete and the Perilous Potions’: A very funny story of bravery, friendship, overcoming emotional hurdles and pizza! 

Jess Butterworth - Monday 17th June 2024, 10am

About ‘Lost on Gibbon Island’: A gorgeous survival story that will have readers on the edge of their seat.

Ian Eagleton - Wednesday 19th June 2024, 2pm

About ‘Glitter Boy’: A joyful, raw and timely novel about family, friends, enemies, and being true to who you really are.
