Library service updates

In November 2024, our libraries migrated to a new system for managing stock and customer data. Read on for the latest updates and developments regarding your experience in libraries and using our new online catalogue.

Online Catalogue speed

Thank you for all your feedback on the speed of our new online catalogue. We have been working with our supplier and they have now been able to identify improvements. These will be made over the coming weeks. 

Customer email notifications

We are currently experiencing issues with email notifications sending to a number of email providers, including Yahoo and BT Internet. We are working on resolving this with our suppliers.

If you think this is affecting you, we can set up free text notifications as an alternative for overdue items and reservation in the meantime. Please speak to a member of library staff or Ask Inspire to do this.

Customer Text Notifications

There is currently no text service available for Pre-overdue notices which we are working on with our suppliers to resolve.

In the meantime, please check your online account or contact the Ask Inspire team if you need a reminder of when your items are due back. 

Renewal Message Display

Our system doesn’t allow you to renew the same item more than once to stop you using up a renewal without changing the due date. If you did try to do this, the message "cannot be renewed" will display. You would be able to renew again from the next day onwards. 

Loan history unavailable

Loan history before November 2024 is currently unavailable. Our suppliers are working hard to resolve this, however we do not currently have a fixed date. 

Stock suggestions

We are aiming to start our new online suggestions facility on the 1st April 2025. Thank you for your patience while we have been working hard to get things up and running.
