Inspire Culture, Learning and Libraries invites people from Ashfield to a fun filled day of discovery at their brand new college and adult learning centre at High Pavement House, Sutton-in-Ashfield, on Friday 23 August 2024, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Inspire is inviting the public to explore the brand new state-of-the-art facilities, speak to the friendly team, and discover a range of learning opportunities for young people and adults. You will be able to sign up for both our September Inspire College courses and autumn adult learning courses on the day

Cupcake decorating, crafts and drumming digits are just a few of the interactive, have a go activities on offer throughout the day. There’s even a chance to win £50 worth of supermarket vouchers, a coding robot, and for everyone completing the treasure hunt running from Sutton-in-Ashfield library, there’s a free adult learning course!

Earlier this year, Inspire College announced the relocation of its Eastbourne House campus to the new centre at High Pavement along with an expanded range of courses and programmes for young people, and a host of new opportunities for adult learners.

This new hub of learning and opportunity will provide a diverse selection of courses designed to equip young people with essential qualifications and skills. Courses include Health and Social Care; Construction and Joinery; Hospitality; Maths and English GCSE Resits and Functional Skills; and Employability, Personal and Social Development. Students will also benefit from exciting work placements and traineeship opportunities, helping them gain valuable hands-on experience in their chosen fields.

Meanwhile, courses for adults will support health, wellbeing and employability. Whether it’s improving confidence with numbers, learning digital and IT skills, or exploring cooking and crafts, and trying something new, there’s something for everyone.

High Pavement House is conveniently located near Sutton town centre and Inspire’s Sutton-in-Ashfield Library, ensuring easy access for all learners. The building has been acquired by Ashfield District Council with funding from the Governments Towns Fund and has undergone extensive refurbishment to create a top-tier educational environment. Inspire has further invested in modern amenities, including a fully refitted training kitchen, upgraded ICT infrastructure, and comfortable new furnishings, all designed to provide a vibrant and supportive setting for students to thrive.

Event Highlights:

  • FREE adult learning course and a prize for every child
  • Treasure hunt: 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM, starting at Sutton-in-Ashfield Library.
  • Drop-in activities: Cupcake decorating, crafts, printable calendars, drumming digits, and paper planes.
  • Prize draw: Win a £50 supermarket voucher!

"We are delighted to support this amazing new learning centre, which will offer a wealth of opportunities for young people and adults in Ashfield. Inspire, who delivers a range of cultural, art, library and learning services on behalf of the county council, is doing a great job in providing quality education and skills development for our communities, and we encourage residents to take advantage of the open day and see what's on offer."

Councillor Scott Carlton , Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Health at Nottinghamshire County Council

"We’re excited to welcome the community to our new learning centre at High Pavement House. We invite everyone to meet our friendly team and explore this vibrant educational space. After successfully improving learning facilities at Kirkby-in-Ashfield Library last year, we’re proud to continue our investment in the local area. Inspire learning, both our college programme and adult learning offer a really supportive approach, especially to those where more formal settings may not have worked for them.  Whether you're a young person aiming to boost your GCSE results or an adult eager to learn something new, make friends, or enhance your career prospects, Inspire High Pavement Learning Centre is here for you."
