Our Summer Reading Challenge is in full swing, which always attracts thousands of young readers during the holidays! In August, don’t miss our brilliant new family theatre show The Greatest Robot Ever, presented by KnottedHawk Productions. Perfect for young children and their grown-ups, join robot Glitch and his best friend Shift on an adventure of self-discovery.

September brings the return of England’s largest festival of history and culture with Heritage Open Days, and Nottinghamshire Archives will once again be opening its doors for free behind-the-scenes tours.

Join us for fun and interactive Pride in our Place workshops, a new initiative funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Snap up the chance to learn heritage photography skills, plus children can take part in creative map making workshops with artist Edwina Kung. Head over to selected Bassetlaw libraries to join in - your creations will even go into an exhibition!

This time of year means the return of the Inspire Poetry Festival 2024, which brings acclaimed poets to our libraries for a week of wonderful words. This is a fantastic opportunity to delve into poetry and discover new writers, whether you’re new to the genre or a long-time poetry enthusiast!

Grab your popcorn as the big screen is back in the comfort of your local library. Our Dementia Friendly screenings are suitable for all, particularly those with memory challenges, and our relaxed screenings are perfect for neurodiverse families. This season we’re excited to welcome back Monstrous Flesh for another film workshop. This time they will present Killjoy: Female Characters They Want Us to Hate.

Our library galleries will be adorned with fascinating exhibitions. Zoom in to fungi at the Fungi Up Close exhibition, featuring stunning images from natural history photographer Alex Hyde. Or discover the talent of local artists at the Inspire Community Open exhibition.

This is just a small sample of all the exciting events we’ve got programmed this season, so do read the full guide to find out what’s on near you.

We look forward to welcoming you!
