Visitors to Arnold Library on Tuesday 30 July will be able to join in with free taster sessions of courses, heritage talks, poetry performances, and meet members of the Inspire team.

The library, delivered by Inspire on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, will be hosting the celebration from 10am until 2pm. The Open Day will not only showcase the fantastic library service offer, but will also celebrate Inspire’s high-quality Adult Learning courses and the positive impact they have on the local community. Visitors can also celebrate Gedling Borough history, with talks and exhibitions throughout the day.

Activities will include:

  • 10am – 2pm: Gedling Borough at 50 Exhibition, including a video and refreshments.
  • 10am: Welcome and presentations from the Inspire Adult Learning team.
  • 10.30am:  Inspire Adult Learning talk on Gedling Heritage.
  • 11.30am: Poetry performance by the Hidden Valley Poets.
  • 12.15pm: Gedling History talk by Dr Stephen Walker.
  • 12pm – 2pm: Computer Skills for Beginners with Inspire Adult Learning.
  • 12.45pm – 2pm: Inspire Adult Learning taster sessions, including Bobbin Lace making and Calligraphy.

Visitors can also find out more about Inspire Learning’s summer programme, and for those who are not yet a library member, there’s the chance to sign up and join their local library for free. The day will also include free refreshments, and a chance to tell the Inspire team about the courses you would like to see in Gedling.

No booking is required for the event – visitors can drop in between 10am and 2pm and join in.
