Newark Library Planned Closure

Newark Library is closed for essential planned building maintenance work to its heating and cooling systems from Wednesday 17 January 2024 at 6.30pm. The reopening date of Newark Library has been delayed. 

In the meantime, you can use your library card at any library throughout Nottinghamshire. Your nearest library is also in Newark: Balderton Library on Main Street, Balderton, Newark, NG24 3NP. All holds for Newark Library will be processed by Balderton Library.

Balderton Library provides access to public computers, stocks a full range of books, and from Thursday 18 January and will have extended opening hours: Monday – Friday 9am-6pm and Saturday 9am-4pm. Other services, groups and events will also be happening from our base in the Buttermarket, Newark.

Customers can also benefit from our Mobile Libraries, with Mobile East Routes covering the Newark and Sherwood area. You can find out more about Mobile Libraries by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.

Balderton Library

Balderton Library will have extended opening hours. The library will now be open Monday - Friday 9am-6pm, and Saturday 9am-4pm. You can find out more about Balderton Library by clicking here.

Rattle, Rhyme and Roll Every Thursday, 2.30pm and every Tuesday, 2.30pm
Crime Reading Group 1st Monday of every month (starting Monday 5 February), 2pm.

The Buttermarket

Starting from 20 January, we will be running regular groups and activities every Saturday at the Buttermarket, Newark. You can find out more about the Inspire Buttermarket by clicking here.

Rattle, Rhyme and Roll (under 5s) 10am-10.30am Join us for songs and rhymes with your little ones.
Children's Lego and Games Club 11am-1pm Come along and build Lego and play fun games.
Adult Social Scrabble 1pm-3pm Do you enjoy Scrabble? Join our regular group for words and refreshments.
Children's Craft Activity 1.30pm-2.30pm Have fun crafting with a different craft activity each week.

Newark Book Festival
