InspiREAD 2023 Resources for Schools

Welcome to InspiREAD 2023! We've put together a collection of resources designed to inspire and motivate young readers in schools! 

We have a range of downloadable resources, including posters, bookmarks, and activity sheets, that feature our shortlisted books for this year's awards. 

Our posters are perfect for decorating classroom walls, libraries, and other school spaces, while our bookmarks make great giveaways for students. Please feel free to download anything that you think would be helpful for your school. Let's inspire a love of reading together!

Story time

• Read the picture books with your class and pupils can then vote online for their favourite!

Read the first chapter/few chapters of the shorter and longer novels

• Read with your class or in small groups
• Discuss in-lesson and individual pupils or your class as a whole can vote for their favourite
• Read the picture books and discuss the story, illustrations, and what makes it a good picture book for KS2 pupils. 

Reading groups

• Select a category (Picture Books, Shorter Novels or Longer Novels) and read the books (or just the opening chapters) and discuss. 
• Set up a parent/carer/child reading group that focuses on InspiREAD
• Use the author and book resources provided for activities and enhanced book discussions
• Look at the front cover and blurb of the books. Discuss what makes it appealing and vote then online for your favourite.
