Nottinghamshire Parish Registers

Great news for family historians!

We are excited to announce that, after almost 2 years of work, Nottingham city and Nottinghamshire's Anglican baptism, marriage, and burial Parish Registers are now available online.

The originals are preserved in Nottinghamshire Archives and thanks to our partnership with Ancestry and the Church of England, the original registers were conserved, digitised, indexed and are now available via free access to Ancestry.co.uk in library buildings and at the archives.

Approximately 75% of the complete registers have been added to the tune of 2 million images. These digital records will be a goldmine for family historians, making ancestors even easier to find. You can print, download or email high-quality colour images of these entries.

You can download a copy of the Parish Registers PDF - the list shows which parishes and dates are available online.

The entries in black are available online at Ancestry.co.uk (free subscription at Nottinghamshire Archives and Inspire libraries). Entries in red are not yet available online.

Please note: Data protection closure periods apply.

  • Baptisms - records restricted for 100 years
  • Marriages - records restricted for 85 years
  • Burials - records restricted for 26 years

Any entry within the restricted period will not be available online.

The record for the oldest register goes to Carburton with a date of 1528, and there are other lovely examples like this one from Mansfield St. Peter's in 1594. See this and other fascinating documents from the last 400 years or more on Ancestry.co.uk.
